The craft

How a mochila is made

A mochila is not an off-the-shelf product. It is the result of weeks of patient handwork — and a tradition passed down across generations.

The pattern
01

The thread

The weaver chooses the colours and begins at the base of the bag, working from the centre outward.

02

The pattern

Row by row the kaana takes shape — a geometric figure that carries a meaning.

03

The strap

Finally the gaza strap is braided and sewn to the body. Every mochila is signed.

Kaanela in plain terms

Fair isn't a word. It's a number.

Most brands tell the story of fair craft. We show the receipts.

What our customers say

I get compliments constantly
The colours are even nicer than in the photos, and I love that I know the weaver's name. Finally a fair brand that actually proves it.

The perfect gift
Bought as a gift for my sister. Telling the story behind the bag was almost as lovely as the unwrapping. Delivered in two days.

Quality you can feel
My first single-thread — you feel the difference immediately. Dense, fine, valuable. And no customs hassle, it was all in the price.
